Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra has been awarded $7,500 from Michigan Humanities Council for its project: "Making a Sound Team." The project's intent is to expand the symphony's curriculum-based elementary education project that integrates live musical ideas with language arts, literature, critical thinking, cultural studies, physical acoustics and math into two new schools: Indian Prairie Elementary School and Kalamazoo Academy. Comstock East, Portage Moorsbridge and Kalamazoo West Christian Elementary Schools, which participated in the 2000 pilot project, will continue to partake in the project.
