Fascination with Fiber: Michigan’s Handweaving Heritage -- (2003)

The Michigan League of Handweavers and the Michigan State University Museum have been awarded a $17,800 Public Humanities Development Grant for “Fascination with Fiber: Michigan’s Handweaving Heritage.” The two organizations will collaborate to design, produce, and install a traveling exhibition about handweavers and weaving guilds of Michigan. Public programming and demonstrations will be offered as well as an interactive exhibit -- “Fun with Fibers” – which includes a weaver’s studio, textile map of Michigan, and a community loom for visitors to experiment. The exhibit will be hosted by the MSU Museum from March 21, 2004, through December 30, 2004, and tour three to five sites across Michigan from 2005-2006.
