| Re-Visioning Nostalgia: the Roots of Rural Community-- (2003) Grant Awarded: November 2003 Type of Grant: Local Network Grant Sponsor: William Bonifas Fine Arts Center of Escanaba Contact: Pasqua Warstler, pasqua@bonifasarts.org Award: $14,998 Website: www.bonfiasarts.org William Bonifas Fine Arts Center of Escanaba has been awarded a $14,998 Local Network Grant for “Re-Visioning Nostalgia: the Roots of Rural Community.” The project will document barns and buildings from the past, map their historical social role, and identify how this heritage offers an array of alternatives for the future. Activities include: an exhibit, guided tours, teacher packets, student exhibits at the UP State Fairgrounds, traditional music and dance, barn rehabilitation workshops, and data collection on historic barns. Collaborators on the project include MSU Extension, Delta County Agricultural Heritage Committee, 4-H of Delta County, Michigan Barn Preservation Network, Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Michigan Farm Bureau, and the Upper Peninsula State Fair.
