This project involves the creation of a temporary exhibit associated with educational programming on Lake Michigan’s maritime lore and legends. Interpretive panels will accompany the schooner ship Madeline during its summer voyages on the Great Lakes while other portions will remain in the Grand Traverse Heritage Center. The traveling capability of Madeline broadens this project’s outreach and visibility beyond the immediate Traverse City area. Interactive activities throughout the community are also proposed as well as performances, historic walking tours, lighthouse tours, film presentations, etc. The exhibition is scheduled to run from June 2007 through November 2007. Some of Michigan’s greatest assets and history surround our Great Lakes and Grand Traverse Heritage Center is in the perfect setting for the content.
