PRIME TIME Family Reading Time®
Mini Grants for Repeat Programs

Mini grants of up to $2,000 are currently available to library systems that have previously implemented a Council-sponsored PRIME TIME Family Reading Time® program and are in need of additional funds to support repeat programs.

Receipt Deadline:  Rolling

Programs may occur at any library branch within the library system but must utilize trained PRIME TIME team members. Programs must be six-weeks in length and can be presented in either English or a bilingual Spanish/English program.

Grant funds may cover any program expenses including stipends and travel reimbursement for scholar, storyteller, community organizer/translator, and/or preschool coordinator; program books; family transportation costs; and miscellaneous program expenses such as gift books and preschool supplies. Funds may not be expended on food.

To Apply:

Submit a letter of intent on library letterhead by the due date above indicating the following items:

  • Proposed dates and location of repeat PRIME TIME® program
  • Names of all PRIME TIME® team members including library coordinator, scholar and storyteller
  • Target audience and plans for recruiting families
  • Partner agencies who will assist with program implementation and/or family recruitment
  • Total program budget and detail of how grant funds will be expended

Libraries may be awarded only one mini grant per 12-month period and grant recipients are required to complete and submit to the Michigan Humanities Council all final PRIME TIME® reports within four weeks of program completion.

Applicants will be notified in writing of funding decisions approximately two weeks after the deadline.

Letters of intent must be mailed and/or questions directed to:
