The Stakeholders Planning Conference for the Voices Project. Traverse City, MI. This project will bring agriculture, foods, Extension, land use, and humanities scholars together for an intensive two day meeting to lay the groundwork for the development of a comprehensive package of companion training and public programs. The purpose is to educate the public and agricultural professionals about the place of food in our lives and related issues of sustainable agriculture, eating locally, and enabling civic discourse around these issues within communities. The conference will include "What Will Be in the Fields Tomorrow," public readers theatre peformance and audience discussion forum with playwrite Barbara Carlisle on March 12, 2006. Dr. Laura DeLind will also participate and facilitate meeting about resources within agriculture and public education at Grand Traverse Extension Conference on March 13.
