Past experience: I am an award-winning writer of books for children and poetry for adults, as well as a storyteller and a youth librarian who was awarded the Michigan Library Association's Award of Merit as youth librarian of the year for 2002. I am, also, an educator who taught writing at the college level, as a high school english teacher, and to third-graders under the auspices of the Michigan Council for the Arts. Currently my presentations include author talks and writing workshops for writers, instruction for classroom teachers, and staff development for librarians. I'm the author of eight picture books and one novel, as well as four forthcoming books. I was honored by being one of eight authors invited to read at the 2005 White House Easter Egg Roll.

Suggestions for public humanities projects: I am interested in writing programs for children and adults of all ages.
