Degree: Ph.D.
Major: American Culture, Holocaust Studies
Minor: Jewish American Literature and Culture

Specialization areas: Interdisciplinary; Area Studies: Jewish-American; Literature: American; Ethnic Studies; History: Holocaust
Implementing projects as: Consultant/Planner; Presenter/Panelist; Project Evaluator
Project types: Live Events Exhibitions; School Projects; Media; New Technology
Areas willing to participate: Planning Projects; Developing Projects; Research

Past experience: I have partiticipated in some local GR Humanities Council programs (book discussions); presented on the Holocaust at the GR Public Museum and the Muskegon County Museum; organized several visits by lecturers to GVSU and the Grand Rapids community; written successful (and unsuccessful) grants to National Endowment for the Humanities; evaluated grants for NEH.

Suggestions for public humanities projects: I would be particularly interested in doing programs that combine my main scholarly interests: American Culture and the Holocaust. To that end, I can envision projects in which texts that are often taught in American schools (Diary of Anne Frank, Elie Wiesel's Night) would be the focus of either community discussion or in-service training for teachers.

I would also like to help a community organize a film series on the Holocaust.
