Picturing America in Michigan
Picturing America in Michigan is a collection of programs for Michigan schools participating in Picturing America, a National Endowment for the Humanities initiative that helps students gain a deeper understanding of American history through the study and understanding of its art.
Picturing America in Michigan programs have included the Museum Partnership Program (bringing museum programs to more than 7,000 students at 129 schools and libraries), a Teacher Seminar Series (reaching 102 teachers), and the Picturing Your Community in America Documentary Film Program.
On the map below, click on a location to view the results of the Picturing Your Community in America Documentary Film Program. Students at 11 high schools worked with Michigan Television producers to create short films depicting unique aspects of their community.
