The Arts and Humanities Touring Grant program is currently closed.

Michigan Humanities anticipates opening this program in March 2026. We will release an opening date once state funding has been awarded. State arts funding decisions are expected by February 28, 2026.

Grant Guidelines

The Arts and Humanities Touring Program awards reimbursement grants to help support the fees and expenses of touring performers, artists, exhibitors, and humanities presenters.

Touring Program grants are available to Michigan nonprofit organizations who may request:

  • Up to 50 percent of a presenters’/exhibitors’ fees and travel expenses.
  • Applicants can apply for up to 4 different presenter’s/exhibitors in one application for a maximum grant award of $2,500.

Eligibility Requirements

Requests for a grant may not exceed $2,500 per application, and an organization may request up to four different presenters’/exhibitors during the program period (April to November 2026) . Artists are limited to $6,000 in requests per program period.

Events must have a ticket price of $10 or lower to be eligible for funding. Events that are organization fundraisers are ineligible for funding.

Due to new federal requirements, organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier, or obtain one prior to your final report deadline, to receive grant funds. For more information on how to obtain a Unique Entity Identifier, please click here.

Applications will only be processed during the appropriate funding windows. Grant applications will be processed in the order they are received for each funding window. Grant applications will no longer be accepted once all funds for that window have been committed. Final reports will be due 30 days after the completion of your event. If the final report is not received on time, funds awarded will be considered forfeited by the organization. Failure to submit final reports will also disqualify the organization from applying for further funding for one year.

Arts and Humanities Touring Grants

The Arts and Humanities Touring Program is a joint collaboration of Michigan Humanities and the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. Michigan nonprofits can apply for Touring Grants to host arts and humanities programming that feature artists and presenters from both the humanities and performing/visual arts fields.
